Lynthwaite Farm ice cream day 2

November 9, 2011

Hi there:

Today the 18″ x 22″ painting is drawn and the sky painted. A big memory to this scene was a bulls-eye trash can that is a little out of the scope of this painting; Artists license will put it in the painting. Tomorrow is the roof and background tress etc. There was a long sign above where you would order and pay for your treat. Any clues what was on the sign? Comments?

Lynthwaite Farm day 1

November 7, 2011

Hi there: Today is the first day of a new painting of an ice cream place that no longer exists; Lythwaite Farm. In the proximity of Concord Mall and the Doubletree Hotel on Rte 202N this was appaerntly a VERY popular Wilmington Delaware place. The photo I am expanding from is a single frame from a Super 8 film from 1960. I plan on making thjis the next in my mini print collection.

Ashland Mills study

November 4, 2011

Hi there: I sometimes will do a small “study” of a paintingI plan on doing bigger at a certain date. The attached is one of those I just finished today. Little of this painting still exists today as this would have been around 1930.

Hi there:
For those of you who do not know what a remarque is it is French for re-marking something original on a print. Some Artists do pen and ink, some pencil, or like me paint them on. This is a sample that someone commissioned me to do.

The Dog House Final

October 17, 2011

I fianlly signed my first bigger painting in 2 months. It has been painful. The transmission tower made a perfect place for my signature cross for my mother.

It will be the next in my minis series and out around November 1. Look for it!

October 13, 2011

I was interviewed for a followup article on my Liberty Remembers painting/print for the Wilmington News Journal to run either Friday October 14th or next Thursday October 21st. Look for it!

the Dog House day 7

October 13, 2011

You can see from the last post, there has been alot completed and it’s tightening up nicely. I had a comment that there were too many SUV’s in front so believe it or not I shrunk one down and turned it into a Mini Cooper! I think this one will wrap up tomorrow and go for it’s formal photo for printing as the next in the minis series $20 size prints.

Sorry about the delay but here is a current image of my painting “The Dog House” New Castle, Delaware. If you can see I am building on contrast and color from the last image before my last art show; I was exhausted. The before and after are shown in this post. Comments? href=””>

The Dog House day 2

September 23, 2011

Hi there:

Well it’s pretty much drawn. I left the transmission tower lighter on purpose to show it’s going to be there but really diminished to allow the building and the signage be the center of attention. Ok people, there is a Chrysler mini van, a Ford expidition, a strange new Toyota SUV, a Buick, a pickup truck, and I think a Nissan out front. Anyone have any of these vehicles? If so, give me the color and your tag #. I may start painting tomorrow. I am trying to fast track this one to be ready for a show in New Castle DE on October 1st; Art on the Green that was scheduled for this Saturday but postponed due to weather.
