Hi there:

I finished the Lynthwaite painting a couple of weeks ago and just wasn’t happy with it and I got a couple critiques that weren’t that flattering so I set it aside. I thought about it, looked at it alot in the evenings while watching tv and listened to the postings in Memories in Wilmington on FaceBook. 1 said he thought he remembered blackboards with flavors of ice cream, so I added blackboards with all the flavors people posted they remembered! Duh, people’s memories are MUCH more than sights! TASTES! I added alot of contrast, more color, siding, sillouettes, and vanilla clouds. I think much better now.

Hi there:

I think you will see significant progress for the last posting. The dark dark green trim , the roof with the occasional green shingle spotted in, the shadows, and the background trees going in.

Hi there:

Today the 18″ x 22″ painting is drawn and the sky painted. A big memory to this scene was a bulls-eye trash can that is a little out of the scope of this painting; Artists license will put it in the painting. Tomorrow is the roof and background tress etc. There was a long sign above where you would order and pay for your treat. Any clues what was on the sign? Comments?

Hi there: Today is the first day of a new painting of an ice cream place that no longer exists; Lythwaite Farm. In the proximity of Concord Mall and the Doubletree Hotel on Rte 202N this was appaerntly a VERY popular Wilmington Delaware place. The photo I am expanding from is a single frame from a Super 8 film from 1960. I plan on making thjis the next in my mini print collection.

Hi there: I sometimes will do a small “study” of a paintingI plan on doing bigger at a certain date. The attached is one of those I just finished today. Little of this painting still exists today as this would have been around 1930.
